What is the plot of Emily in Paris Season 5?

Season 5 picks up with Emily navigating life and love between Rome and Paris, with the narrative stretching “from Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins” and even Venice. Darren Star explained that moving Emily to Italy is a way “to stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places.”

As for Emily’s love life, things are far from simple. Emily’s relationship with Gabriel faces a turning point. Lily Collins teased, “Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice.” Darren Star added, “Her love life is always complicated… we have some interesting, surprising developments.”

At the same time, Emily’s budding romance with Marcello deepens. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily,” said Lily. “We ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work-life balance, and he comes at that perfect time. We want Emily to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode.”

Star echoed the sentiment, noting, “I feel like they have a real spark and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”
