Aubrey Plaza has a new project lined up. She's scheduled to star in "Honey Don't!," the new Ethan Coen film, co-starring Margaret Qualley and Chris Evans.
The project marks Plaza's return to the big screen since the death of her husband, Jeff Baena.
"Honey Don't" stars Qualley as a private investigator looking into strange deaths that are linked to a cultish church, led by Evans. Plaza plays a mysterious cop who appears to have a complicated relationship with Qualley.
"Honey Don't" is written by Coen and his wife Tricia Cooke and premieres in theaters on August 22nd.
The trailer was released earlier this week, showing glimpses of a detective story starring some distinct and bizarre characters. You can check it out in full below.
Plaza and the death of her husband
In January of this year, Plaza's husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide. The couple had been estranged for some time, sharing that they had split up since September.
Still, the two remained in contact shortly before his death, with Plaza sharing with the police that she received a text from her three hours before he was found dead in his apartment.
Plaza and Baena's family shared a joint statement following the news of his death. "This is an unimaginable tragedy," it reads. "We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time."
The couple had been together for years, with the two being first linked together in 2011. Through their partnership, Plaza and Baena worked on many films together, including "Life After Beth", "The Little Hours," and "Spin Me Round." The couple revealed they were married in 2021, with Plaza sharing the news on Instagram.
"So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to italia to cause some more trouble," wrote Plaza while promoting the film "Spin Me Round."
