How to watch Pope Francis' funeral in Latin America, Mexico and the U.S.


Millions will honor Pope Francis at his funeral on April 26, 2025. Find out how to watch the live broadcast in Mexico, Latin America, and the United States.

The world is coming together for a historic moment: the funeral of Pope Francis, the first Latin American pope. After leading with humility and compassion, his final farewell will be simple and deeply moving.

The ceremony takes place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Rome. That is 4 a.m. ET and 1 a.m. PT. It will be held in St. Peter’s Square, with millions across Latin America, Mexico, and the United States expected to watch.

World leaders, religious figures, and thousands of faithful are traveling to Rome to pay their respects. Several world leaders will attend Pope Francis' funeral. President Donald Trump, joined by First Lady Melania Trump, has confirmed his attendance, marking his first foreign trip of his second term. Former President Joe Biden and former First Lady Jill Biden are also expected.

From Latin America, Argentina’s President Javier Milei will represent the Pope’s home country. Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Honduras' President Xiomara Castro, and Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa have confirmed they will attend. Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodriguez will represent Mexico, as President Claudia Sheinbaum is unable to travel.

Watching in Latin America and Mexico

In Mexico, where more than 80% of the population identifies as Catholic, several networks will offer live coverage of Pope Francis’ funeral.

Mexico: 

  • Live coverage begins at 2 a.m. CDT (Mexico City time)

Broadcast hosts:

  • Coverage will be led by Enrique Acevedo, Danielle Dithurbide, Paola Rojas, and Leonardo Curzio, with live reports and commentary from Vatican City.

Replay:

  • For those unable to watch live, a replay will air at 12 p.m. CDT on Canal de las Estrellas.

Other Latin American Countries

  • Brazil: Globo News and CNN Globo News and CNN Brazil will start coverage at 4:30 a.m. BRT.
  • Argentina: Local channels will begin broadcasting at 4:30 a.m. ART.
  • Colombia: Antena 3 Internacional will provide special coverage starting at 2:30 a.m. COT.
  • Venezuela: Coverage will begin at 3:30 a.m. VET.

For viewers seeking a multilingual broadcast, Vatican Media’s YouTube channel will stream the funeral with commentary available in several languages, including Spanish and Portuguese.
