As reported by Deadline, the actress has been officially cast to play legendary singer Ronnie Spector in the much-anticipated biopic, 'Be My Baby.' The film will chronicle the life of the late Ronettes frontwoman, whose voice and hit songs like "Be My Baby" and "Baby, I Love You" catapulted her to fame.

Ronnie Spector, who was deeply involved in the production, handpicked Zendaya herself to portray her on-screen before her death in 2022. This is also not Zendaya’s first time being linked to the role. She first entered talks to play Spector five years ago, and now, with the film officially moving forward, fans are sharing their excitement.

The movie promises to showcase Zendaya in a new light, and the buzz surrounding the project is evident after photos from the set surfaced, showing the star embodying the role of the goddess Athena, who is a divine counselor to Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, and accompanies in his journey to return home.
