Katherine Schwarzenegger loves an old-school special gesture. The writer, wife of Chris Pratt, and daughter of Hollywood icon Arnold Schwarzenegger, is sharing the action she takes to show love to her friends and family.
"Handwritten cards have always been my jam, thanks to my mama!" she said to the Daily Mail. "Whether it's a thank-you card, a birthday card, or a just-because card, I always stay stocked up, so I have them on hand."
It's a practice that makes sense from Schwarzenegger, who, like her mother, Maria Shriver, is a writer. Shriver built a career as a journalist, having prominent positions in talk shows like NBC News and the Today Show, and published several books over the years.
Schwarzenegger has published various books in her career, from topics like self-help and memoir to children's books. Her most recent release is called "Good Night, Sister" and was featured as a New York Times Best Seller.
In a post on social media, Schwarzenegger thanked her readers and sent a shout-out to her sister Christina, who served as the inspiration for the story.
"Thank you all so much for supporting this book! Truly, from the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful for the support and so proud of this book about sisters," she wrote. "I am beyond blessed to have my sister Christina as my best friend and the reason I wrote this book! And so excited for my two daughters to have built-in best friends in each other."
"This book began after I had my first daughter and finalized after I had my second daughter. I am thrilled so many have added this book to their bedtime routines and so happy to celebrate sisterhood in the many forms that it comes in."
Schwarzenegger's family life
Schwarzenegger comes from one of the most prominent families in the country, having ties to the entertainment world and politics, with Shriver being a part of the Kennedy family.
She married Chris Pratt in 2019, with the two sharing three kids: Lyla, Eloise, and Ford. Schwarzenegger is also a stepmother to Jack, Pratt's son from his previous marriage to Anna Faris.
She's opened up about her experience as a stepparent, revealing that she got outside help when she first got engaged to Pratt. "Because stepparenting, like parenting, has no handbook," she said on the "Parenting & You with Dr. Shefali" podcast.
"I have the benefit of being in both roles, and stepparenting is extra confusing because you aren't a parent, you're not a nanny, you're not an assistant. You have responsibilities in all of those areas, but you're not either of them. It's a confusing thing to navigate where you fit in."
