North West is undoubtedly one of the most famous celebrity kids. While many celebrity parents try to shield their children from the public, the 12-year-old has millions of followers on social media and is already entering the music world. While her self-expression makes headlines every week, Kim is adamant that North has known what she wanted since birth. And now we have some incredible details about what that exact moment was like.

One of the most famous families in the world

Kim was a guest on Khloé Kardashian's podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, where the billionaire opened up about her eldest. North was welcomed to the world on June 15, 2013, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and apparently, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, was DJing.

The Skims founder was talking about how North has known "what she wanted since the moment she was born.” Kim then pointed out the song that Ye chose to play the moment she was being born: "She was getting born to the song Bohemian Rhapsody." "Kanye was DJing, so he put on Bohemian Rhapsody for the moment she came out. And isn't it so her?" Kim remembered.

While Koko was in the delivery room, she said she didn't remember that, but Kourtney did. "Kourtney and I cry laughing thinking of this moment," she said. Kim said she couldn't remember the song and wished she had written it down in her memory and fun facts book, so she reached out to Kourtney to ask. "And she's like, 'You don't remember? It was Bohemian Rhapsody."

The song, written by Queen, is famously open for interpretation. But it touches on themes of guilt, inner turmoil, identity, judgment, and liberation. It's one of the most dramatic songs that has truly withstood the test of time.

If it had anything to do with North's journey through life, she has been dealing with public judgment as she navigates her identity and self-expression in front of a global audience.

Kim has been navigating judgement

Koko asked Kim if the public judgment about the way she is raising North ever gets to her. “I'm just not a judgmental person like that," Kim said. "I try not to pay attention to it, but I think that no one knows unless they're in my shoes what I'm dealing with and how we have to manage certain things from the outside world or even close in our lives that we have to go through together.”

One of the biggest misconceptions, Kim says, is that supporting North’s individuality means there are no boundaries. “The one misconception that people might have is like, ‘Oh, she's trying to be her bestie and lets her get away with a lot.’ Like, no. North actually has a lot of rules.”

The difference is where Kim draws the line. Expression is non-negotiable. “The one area is I do let her express herself, and I do let her do that. I love her for that, and she would do it, you know, regardless.”

North loves fake piercings and tattoos

And for anyone acting like North’s style came out of nowhere, Kim has receipts. “It's funny like people are like, ‘Oh, this blue hair, all of this all of a sudden, or like her fake piercings that she puts up…’ I have pictures of her when we're in first grade, pre-k, where she'd come with like a fake septum ring… she's always loved the colored braids in her hair since she was little.”

In other words, this isn’t rebellion - it’s consistency. “Like she really is who she is and always has been that girl. So I nurture her."

Coparenting with Ye

Music is North and Kanye's thing

Kim also opened up about North's producing. Music is where North is most locked in, often spending entire days immersed in the studio.

“At home, she'll do an 8-hour music studio session where she's producing and writing," she said. That passion has also reshaped Kim’s relationship with Ye, particularly when it comes to co-parenting.

“The music side and the producing isn't my thing. And that's her bonding thing with her dad.” What matters most is communication and mutual respect. “We have to communicate about how North like moves through that world and all these like opportunities that come her way.”
