Selena Gomez did not need a red carpet speech to sum up the mood of the 2026 Golden Globes. After Hollywood gathered at the Beverly Hilton, Gomez shared a Powerpuff Girls fan edit comparing herself, Miley Cyrus, and Ariana Grande to the animated trio.

The image paired cartoon stills with photos of the three stars dressed up for awards season, captioned simply, “So proud of my ladies I grew up with!” The post instantly struck a chord with fans who grew up alongside the former Disney Channel and Nickelodeon stars.

“That’s really cute,” one fan wrote. “Awwww that's so sweet! She really did grow up with them!” added another. Others weighed in on the edit itself, joking, “Miley and Selena need to switch spots and it would be perfect.”

The nostalgic moment felt especially fitting given the scene unfolding inside the Golden Globes that night. Nearly two decades after they became household names on Disney Channel, Gomez and Cyrus reunited on one of Hollywood’s biggest stages, reminding fans why their careers have remained so closely intertwined.

The reunion took place during the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 11, 2026, where cameras captured the moment inside the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles as Cyrus and Gomez posed together for photographers.

Cyrus, 33, wore a black sequined Saint Laurent look, flipping her blonde hair back before smiling for the cameras. Gomez, also 33, stood beside her in a black Chanel gown accented with white feathery detailing.

As flashes went off, the two appeared relaxed and happy, a far cry from the teen years when rumors often swirled about tension between them. As they departed, Gomez could be heard complimenting her longtime friend with a playful, “Hot mama.”

Many commented that the only thing that could have made the moment more complete would have been Ariana Grande joining them.

Both women attended the ceremony as nominees, underscoring how far they have come since their Disney Channel days. Cyrus received a nomination for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture for “Dream as One” from 'Avatar: Fire and Ash.' The track ultimately lost to “Golden” from 'K:Pop Demon Hunters,' but the nomination marked another milestone in her evolving music career.

Gomez, meanwhile, was nominated for Best Female Actor in a Musical or Comedy TV Series for her performance in Only Murders in the Building. She also attended the ceremony alongside fiancé Benny Blanco, turning the night into a personal and professional celebration.

For fans, seeing Gomez and Cyrus together again carried emotional weight. Photos from the evening quickly circulated online, often paired with throwback images from the 2008 Teen Choice Awards when both stars were just 16 years old. The side by side comparisons sparked an outpouring of nostalgia.

The reunion also reignited conversations about the long-rumored feud between the two singers, speculation that dates back to their teenage years when both were linked to fellow Disney Channel alum Nick Jonas. Gomez has repeatedly shut down those narratives over the years.

Fans also noticed who was missing from the photo. Many commented that the only thing that could have made the moment more complete would have been Ariana Grande joining them.

Gomez’s Powerpuff Girls post only fueled that conversation. By grouping herself with Cyrus and Grande, she tapped into a shared cultural memory that goes beyond any single network or show.
