Jennifer Aniston believes the key to looking and feeling youthful comes down to one thing: mindset. While she admits to keeping up with facials and lasers, the actress says her real secret lies in optimism, positivity, and in showing her body love. Speaking to Glamour magazine alongside her The Morning Show co-stars, she was visibly touched when Marion Cotillard, 49, complimented her for aging “gracefully.”
“That means so much to me,” Jennifer responded. “And I think as far as aging gracefully, I have an eternal fountain of optimism and positivity. Call it youth if you want. But I think it all starts with how we love our bodies and love where we are. I’m not going to say I don’t get the facials, the lasers, and all that good stuff."
She continued, "I mean, I’m maintained. I’m not going to just go down and let these gray hairs take over. So it's perspective, and also knowing that this is our one body. It’s a mindset. So it means a lot to me to hear that from Marion, who I think is a walking beam of sunshine and love and beauty and talent.”
The Friends alum has long been candid about her approach to wellness, previously explaining that she’s learned to embrace her body because it is “doing the best it can.” Back in January, she told Allure, “We’ve got to love our bodies. It’s doing the best it can. It’s been with us since the day we started, so we can’t be too hard on it."
"Of course, we're all going to grow older, but how can we thrive as we grow older? And that is about giving your body the attention that it deserves.”
Jennifer has also reflected on how her perspective has shifted over time. She has described her 20s as a “nightmare,” but says she began to thrive in her 30s when she finally understood the rewards of exercise. “For me personally, I loved my 30s, but my 20s were nothing. I was a nightmare. I didn't understand working out until my 30s and 40s,” she admitted.
Today, the We’re the Millers star is just as intentional about her rest as she is about her workouts. Prioritizing her mental health, she makes it a goal to head to bed early. “I've been trying hard to put myself in bed during the week at 10pm, turn everything off, and then just sit there and let the world come crashing in,” she explained.
“I've been trying to meet that challenge for myself. Some days you're great and on point, and some days you're just not. I’m a big believer in trying not to be hard on yourself because the world is so mean right now and so aggressive and negative. So why would we do it to ourselves?”
