Billy Ray Cyrus is addressing some explosive claims. The singer recently responded to a lawsuit from a woman claiming to be Miley Cyrus' biological mother.
Cyrus called the lawsuit "delusional," “false and absurd.”
According to The Daily Mail, a woman from Arizona called Jayme Lee claims she is the birth mother of Miley, and that Cyrus and his ex-wife, Tish Cyrus, adopted the baby from her.
The complaint was filed in Tennessee, with Lee claiming she gave birth to Miley in 1992, with her and the Cyrus family reaching an agreement that said she'd have the opportunity to name Miley and to be a part of her life as her nanny and piano teacher.
According to Lee, Cyrus "wrongfully assumed" the role of Miley's father and "misrepresented the circumstances" of the adoption, causing her "severe distress." The lawsuit claims the Cyrus family cut off all contact with Lee following Miley's birth, and that no legal document was signed to cement the adoption. The family also allegedly threatened her with police action if she continued to reach out to them.
"At 12, in 1992, I was trying to find a lawyer to help me get visitation of Miley but I was brutally attacked and placed in a state of trauma until recently remembering how I came to be the parent of Miley," reads the complaint.
Cyrus filed a motion to dismiss all of Lee's claims in late November, denying her accusations.
"The Court dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice this morning and awarded Mr Cyrus the recovery of his reasonable and necessary attorney's fees and costs," said Cyrus' lawyer, Chase LanCarte.
Miley's happy engagement
Last week, Miley shared the news of her engagement to her long-term boyfriend, Maxx Morando. The two attended the premiere of "Avatar: Fire & Ash," with Miley showing off her ring.
The pair were first linked together in 2021, when they were photographed at an event holding hands. Miley revealed that the two met when they were set up on a blind date. “We got put on a blind date. Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought, The worst that can happen is I leave," she said in an interview with Vogue UK.
The two are private with their relationship. While they've attended various red carpets and events together, they prefer to keep the details of their relationship out of the public eye.
