Jessica Alba is exploring the highs and lows of her career. Giving an in-depth talk of her career at the Red Sea Film Festival, Alba recalled shooting her "least favorite scene" of the "Fantastic Four." In the movie, released in 2005 and directed by Tim Story, Alba had a nude scene, which she found "humiliating" to shoot.
The scene featured Sue Storm, the character she played, reappearing naked over a bridge after using her invisibility skills.
“I thought that was awful,” said Alba. “It was very humiliating in real life. I grew up with a pretty conservative family, and I am a pretty modest person. I dreaded that scene for weeks. I have a lot of whiplash from those days.”
Despite the challenges in shooting those scenes, Alba has good memories associated with her work in the franchise, with her returning years later for a sequel. She also has great respect for the character of Sue Storm, describing her as "a woman I looked up to."
“She was very maternal and very kind, but also not a pushover; she spoke her mind. She had a great moral compass. No matter who you are, you can look up to her. Oftentimes, the women in these stories need to be saved by a guy or the villain, the problem in the story. This was back then. It’s different now.”
Alba's exciting future and career choices
Over the past couple of years, Alba has been involved in various films, returning to the entertainment world after a period of focusing on her family and children. In the talk, she discussed a project that she's developing with Robert Rodriguez, the director with whom she worked on the film "Sin City."
"We’re putting together a really fun action movie, like a family dramedy inside a heist movie,” she said, revealing that the project would feature an all-Latino cast. “We’re pitching that now to studios. It’s going to be really fun.”
She's also planning on working on Dakota Johnson's directorial debut, "A Tree is Blue," starring alongside Charli XCX and Johnson. “It’s about a mom and a daughter who wants her independence. It would be amazing to be able to show it [at Red Sea] next year when it’s finished," she said. In short, it's an exciting time to be a Jessica Alba fan.
