Presley Gerber, the 26-year-old son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, got real about mental health and delivered one of his most candid disclosures yet about the medications, the losses, and the uncertainty shaping his journey.
“Here’s some clarity for ya — the truth will set you free (hopefully) haha,” he wrote on Instagram. “I feel like honesty is the best policy,” he said, before cataloging his current regimen, which consists of one milligram of Buprenorphine twice a day, fluctuating doses of benzodiazepines, and a small amount of Xanax when panic attacks strike “really, really bad.”
He told followers on Instagram that he also takes Valium, though, as he admitted with frank exhaustion, “I don’t know if it’s a little bit or a lot, who f----- knows anymore.” He shared that he recently increased his Mirtazapine dosage from 15 to 22.5 milligrams, and that Prazosin helps manage the night terrors that have become “a lot” to handle.
“The thing that scares me are the things you need to take… if you don’t take them, something not good happens.” At one point, Presley explained he is now on four classes of medication, including blood pressure drugs, opioids, benzos, and antidepressants, plus “comfort meds” for when he tapers doses.
Buprenorphine, often used for pain or opioid use disorder, and benzos such as Xanax and Valium, which the Cleveland Clinic notes help “slow down activity in your brain and nervous system,” have become tools in a stabilization process he’s still trying to understand. “Hopefully, between my research and their research and the world and God, we can finally figure this out.”
Presley has spoken about a period marked by upheaval. “Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently,” he shared. “So that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I am where I’m at now.” He also expressed frustration with the inconsistent medical guidance he’s received.
“Every psychiatrist I’ve had, and I’ve had 15, are like, ‘Here’s 20 medications and take this if you feel like this…’ And I’m like, ‘No, don’t get me that much leeway. I need some direction.’” For Presley, the lack of structure has bred fear. “The doctors say a lot of different things, so it’s kind of scary.”
Presley said he’s intentionally stepping back from familiar Hollywood circles to protect his progress. “I’ve grown up in Hollywood, and there’s a lot of people around me that I love to death, but right now I try not to be around them.”
