Sydney Sweeney is getting ready for the end of one of the biggest chapters of her life. The actress and producer is currently promoting her new film, "The Housemaid," taking the opportunity to discuss some of her upcoming projects. In an appearance on "The Tonight Show," Sweeney opened up about the awaited third season of "Euphoria," which is expected to be the show's last.
The series, which first aired in 2019, has served as a launching pad for some of the biggest young stars in Hollywood, among them Sweeney herself, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, and more. While Zendaya has long been a promising actress, "Euphoria" catapulted her to greater fame, earning her her first Emmy.
While speaking to the show's host Jimmy Fallon, Sweeney opened up about the "bittersweet" experience of shooting the last season of "Euphoria."
"I wrapped at the start of November," said Sweeney, revealing that her work with her character was done. While Fallon said that this meant the end of the show, Sweeney said, "You never know."
When describing the end of the shoot, she said, "It was bittersweet. Because most of the crew I had worked with since I was 20. When I did the pilot. So every single time I go back I felt like I was going home and I was getting to see everybody. We worked for so long together, we've been filming since February," she said.
She teased her character's arc this season as "self-discovery." We'll have to wait until the show premieres in the spring of next year to see what she meant. You can check out her full appearance on "The Tonight Show" below.
Sweeney's love of ABBA
Sweeney also shared some details about her experience working on "The Housemaid," her new film, where she co-stars alongside Amanda Seyfried. She shared just how much she loves Seyfried's work, especially on the musical "Mamma Mia!," where she stars alongside Meryl Streep.
She shared that she and her friends often sing "Mamma Mia!" songs, with one time sending a video to Seyfried of their performance. She also shared a clip with the audience of herself and Seyfried signing along to "Angeleyes," one of the soundtrack's most famous songs, featured on the second movie, "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again."
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Seyfried shared her love for "Mamma Mia!" and how much she'd love to return to that universe. She even has a part lined up for Sweeney. “I love portraying a mom, so I would love to see [my character] Sophie with her kids,” said Seyfried to Entertainment Tonight.
“Maybe she has a cousin she hasn’t seen in a while, and that could be Sabrina Carpenter. And then Sydney Sweeney could show up. There’s a bunch of girls I really want to be a part of it, and I’m all for it.”
