Since Lily Allen dropped her incredible album West End Girl, it's been all eyes on her ex-husband David Harbour. Their failed marriage had the internet scouring for clues, reading through every line, and he quickly turned into public enemy #1. Amid the chaos, things took a dramatic turn when a rumor claimed his Stranger Things cast mate, Millie Bobby Brown Bongiovi, had filed a complaint against him.
While Allen's fans may never forgive Harbour, Millie's and the Stranger Things fans can sleep in peace because she's been clearing the air on the rumors. The actress opened up about filming some of their most emotional scenes yet, making it very clear that, despite whatever the internet thinks, working with Harbour has always felt safe.
Talking to Deadline in a TikTok interview posted Nov. 28, she didn’t hesitate when asked about the vibe on set. “Of course, I felt safe,” she said. “We’ve worked together for 10 years. I feel safe with everyone on that set.” Millie, now 21, said, “We also play father and daughter,” she continued, “so naturally, you have a closer bond than the rest, because we have had some really intense scenes together, especially in season two.”
She praised their working relationship as something that’s grown alongside the show itself, calling it a “labor of love,” and noting that Harbour consistently raises the bar for her. “It makes me wanna bring my A-game every single time I see that I'm on the call sheet working with him,” Millie said, “because I know he's bringing it right back.”
Last week, Millie also touched on their friendship with the The Hollywood Reporter. “We love this show with everything, and we value our friendship more than anything,” she said.
When asked why she and Harbour made a point to appear united at the season 5 premiere in Los Angeles, she added, “We’ve been doing that for the last 10 years. I mean, we have always been united in that.”
The drama goes back to November 1, when the Daily Mail reported at the time that a "source" alleged that Millie filed a bullying and harassment complaint against Harbour before season 5 began production. They even claimed there was a months-long investigation.
Deuxmoi later claimed a source explained it was “a misunderstanding on set before they started filming one day, and it had to do with their lines, but that it was quickly resolved between them."
Meanwhile, creators Matt and Ross Duffer also stood by the cast members and the energy on set. Ross told THR, “We’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family, and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
