Aldana Masset has returned home after spending almost a month in Thailand representing her country in Miss Universe 2025. The Argentine native has many memories from these days, which were filled with nerves and a lot of tension, and she has shared what her experience was like in the most controversial edition of the pageant.
Opening up about her experience, she stated that during the pageant activities, there was mistreatment from Nawat Itsaragrisil, director of Miss Universe Thailand, who had a heated interaction with the current Miss Universe, Mexican contestant Fátima Bosch.
Aldana was sitting in the front row on the day of the sashing ceremony, when Nawat angrily pointed out that many candidates had not posted on their social media accounts to promote the popularity contest “Top 10 Special Dinner & Talk Show with Queen Victoria and Mr. Nawat.”
On that occasion, the Thai director disrespected Fátima for not agreeing to post, something she explained she needed to consult with her team about, which was an answer that upset Nawat even more. The viral video showed the queen leaving the venue after Itsaragrisil called security.
In her interview on the program Olga, she added, “We were all frozen because something like that had never been seen at Miss Universe.” And when asked if he had treated them badly, she said, “Yes, the truth is that I was looking back because I wanted to know what was going on.” She commented that everything stemmed from the issue of publicity.
Aldana Masset was considered a strong contender to be one of the finalists, even a favorite to win the crown. However, she did not place in the Top 30. Getting real about her time in Thailand, she answered her interviewers when they asked if she was happy with the result and with seeing Fátima Bosch crowned Miss Universe 2025.
“Yes, the truth is that with Fátima, with the Mexicans, we got along very well. She is lovely, all the girls are,” she said about one of the new friends she made in the pageant. Far from the controversy, she added, “I think this year was a beautiful edition in terms of camaraderie.”
