Katy Perry is opening up about her new song, "bandaids." In a recent post, the singer shared a tribute to her fans and her new music video, thanking everyone for the support. In a statement, Perry revealed how vulnerable an experience it was to share lyrics that are so personal to her.
The post featured different photos and videos of Perry as she shot the music video for the song, which shows her in a pool of mud. One of the clips shows her immersed in the mud, resurfacing to laugh. The photos show her wearing jeans, a white t-shirt, a brown belt and some blue sneakers, with her hair styled long and straight.
"Thank you for the love on bandaids… tbh I struggled for months with the idea of putting this song out… even after all these years it can be scary to be vulnerable… but hopefully the lyrics of this song resonate with someone going through what I have been through and maybe they won’t feel so alone and will find the strength to keep going like I have," she captioned the post.
Perry's song describes heartbreak and the end of a relationship, with many linking it to her most recent ex, Orlando Bloom. Some of the lyrics show her trying to salvage a relationship alone, with her significant other not trying as hard as her.
“It’s not that complicated / To ask me how my day is,” read the lyrics. “I’m flatlining trying to save this.”
Despite the sad edge to the song, there appear to be no hard feelings for Bloom or the person who inspired it, sharing that she would “do it all over again." The clip also includes a daisy near the end of the clip, in what seems to be a reference to their daughter Daisy.
More details about Perry's love life
Perry and Bloom announced their split in July of this year, with her going on tour and Bloom attending various events alone, including Jeff and Lauren Sanchez Bezos' wedding.
Perry is now dating the former Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, with the two being photographed spending time together on numerous occasions. “Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,” said a source to US Weekly.
“She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship. Their friends think they are a good match, but he actually hasn’t met a lot of her friends yet.”
