Fernandez founded her death metal band in 2020

Fernandez is one of this year's Miss World Chile participants, representing the district of Las Condes. She's also a singer, founding the death metal band Decessus in 2020. In the talent portion of the show, Fernandez took the stage with her guitarist, Carlos Palma, singing and hitting some impressive gutturals while wearing an appropriately black gown with bits of lace.

The performance resulted in a standing ovation and made Fernandez one of the show's standouts. She shared a clip of her performance, sharing how important the metal music genre has been in her life and development.

"Metal has been a foundational part of who I am as a person and in my life. It's been my shelter and a source of strength and purpose. To be able to express it on the stage of Miss World Chile and on television was an opportunity that I value greatly," she captioned the post in Spanish.

"It was a great experience to push the boundaries of live television, to inspire others, and be real with myself, showing that we shouldn't hold prejudice for others. Thanks to my band Decessus and Carlos Palma for accompanying me, and to every person who's supported me. Horns up," she wrote, adding the rock on and the heart emoji.

Fernandez landed in the top 20 finalists of the competition, winning the audience and the judges' support.

Fernandez gets ready for the final round of the competition

Following her performance and her selection as one of the top finalists in the competition, Fernandez took to social media to share her thanks to all of the people who have supported her. She was also grateful and surprised to have won the popular vote, which many awarded her due to her authenticity.

"Last night was beautiful. The semifinal of Miss World Chile was filled with emotions and a lot of gratitude," she wrote. "I never thought I would win the popular vote. Thank you for taking the time to vote for me and for all of the support. Furthermore, in the talent segment of the show, I was able to showcase an important part of myself, singing a song of my band Decessus alongside bandmate Carlos Palma. This Sunday is the final round. Let's go!"
