Ariana Grande isn't afraid of showing her emotions.

During a recent interview with Evan Ross Katz on his Shut Up Evan podcast, the singer couldn't contain her emotions when the host surprised her with a voicemail from Sarah Jessica Parker.

"I know you're a huge fan of Sarah Jessica Parker," Katz began. "I was getting ready for today and I wanted to have some people call in and ask some questions. So I want to bring the icon Sarah Jessica Parker into the conversation."

That's when the host played a voicemail from the Sex and the City actress, who opened up about how much she admired the songstress.

"Greetings Ariana. It's Sarah Jessica and I have a question," Parker began. "She's so extraordinarily gifted and has at this point and for quite a while achieved an authority and a kind of control of her career. My A. question is when she was little... What did she imagine it would be when she said to a parent, a sibling, a co-worker, or even at a young age, 'I want to be an actor.' What did she think and what has she come to understand what it means and how has that... how radically different is it?"

While the voicemail played, Grande seemed to be in disbelief, opening up about just how much the moment meant to her.

"I love her so much. What a thoughtful and gentle and caring question," Ariana said. "Sorry that just totally shocked me. I can't believe she knows who I am."

The "Side to Side" singer answered the actress' question by stating that it's "entirely different."

"I am sure she feels similarly. I was so focused on just art and singing and laughter and comedy and performing and acting and all I really ever want," she explained. "I'm a nerd, I'm a theater kid, I'm a writer. I like to make people laugh, I like to disappear into character and that's always been the thing that excites me most."

Grande continued, "The fame element is peculiar and hard to navigate. Especially as a person who... I feel everything. And I think that's my gift and sometimes my curse. But it's really weird. I don't think I was prepared for that part."

Grande finished her answer by saying she's "proud" of the work she's done to separate herself from the fame element, but admits she's still "figuring it out."
