Demi Moore is having a major beauty moment. The 62-year-old actress surprised fans this week by reviving one of her most recognizable looks, posing in the blunt bangs she first wore nearly three decades ago in 'Striptease.'
Sharing a side-by-side comparison on Instagram, Demi captioned her post, “Bangs — now and then. Thank you @gucci for letting me bring back the fringe for the first time since the Striptease days!” The Golden Globe winner kept her look casual in a simple white T-shirt and jeans, putting the focus entirely on her waist-length dark hair and new bangs.
The throwback hairstyle was created for her latest role as Barbara Gucci in Gucci’s short film 'The Tiger,' directed by Halina Reijn and Spike Jonze. In the stylish drama, Demi plays the matriarch of the Gucci family, a woman navigating identity, motherhood, and the pressure of being the face of a global fashion house.
Hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, who collaborated with Gucci’s creative director Demna, revealed how the idea came to life. “When @demimoore called me to share the exciting news about her new film w @gucci and that she wanted me to create the hair for the character I had the chills!” he shared on Instagram. “Demna had the idea of the bangs ‘the GUCCI BANGS’ and ofc he always has the right vision.”
According to Giannetos, once the final look was created, “we all knew that was the right look for the film.” His post included behind-the-scenes photos of Demi preparing for her scenes, as well as images of the actress in glamorous Gucci ensembles, from a glittering gold high-neck gown to a tailored red suit with gold double-G buttons.
In the film, Demi’s character shares the screen with an impressive cast that includes Keke Palmer, Elliot Page, Edward Norton, Alia Shawkat, and Ed Harris. Keke, who plays one of Barbara’s children, left a sweet comment on Demi’s Instagram post, “My girl,” alongside heart-eye emojis.
The new look has already become one of Fashion Month’s favorite moments. Fans were quick to agree, flooding her comments with praise like “KEEP THE BANGS OMG” and “SO GOOD too good!!” daughter Tallulah Willis commented.
While Demi is best known for her sleek, center-parted hair, she’s never been afraid to switch things up. Over the years, the 'Ghost' actress has experimented with everything from a cropped bob to a shaved head for 'G.I. Jane.'
More recently, she’s even embraced her natural roots. “Oh 100 percent,” she told People earlier this year. “I look at women who have that incredible gray, especially long, and I think it’s striking. I would definitely do it. I just don't have enough to make it interesting. Mine’s like a smattering that makes my hair look murky.”
