It may be cuffing season, but the couple that was once arrested together is reportedly separating. News broke on October 2nd that there is trouble in paradise for Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli.
After nearly three decades together, Loughlin and Mossimo are no longer living together. PEOPLE confirmed the news on Tuesday. “They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage," Loughlin’s representative, Elizabeth Much, told the outlet.
It doesn't seem like they are totally ready to pull the plug and call it a divorce. Much noted that, "There are no legal proceedings at this time."
The “Full House” alum and her fashion-designer husband have had a very public history, most notably the 2019 college admissions scandal that shook Hollywood.
In a now-infamous celebrity true crime story, federal authorities revealed that her parents were a part of a scandal involving wealthy parents who paid officials to get their children into universities.
They were accused of paying $500k in bribes to Rick Singer and Key Worldwide Foundation to designate their daughter, Olivia Jade, and Isabella as athletic prospects at the University of Southern California. Neither of them was a rower, and Olivia even posed on an ergometer rowing machine, which was attached to her application, according to an indictment by the United States Government.
Both Loughlin and Giannulli struck plea deals, confessing to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. Loughlin served two months in prison, and Giannulli served five.
The couple purchased an 11,800-square-foot Hidden Hills mansion in August 2020 for $9.5 million, months after the scandal, and listed it for $16.5 million this past February. Which could be a clue to when this all started.
Their love story
Loughlin and Giannulli’s love story began in the mid-’90s. The Full House alum first met Giannulli in 1995, and two years later, the duo eloped just two days before Thanksgiving on November 27, 1997.
“We had Moss' best friend and a minister meet us, and we got married at sunrise, and then we went to Thanksgiving dinner, and we told everybody,” Loughlin told Entertainment Tonight in 2018. “We had talked about doing a wedding, and we just thought, 'Let's get up and let's go do it.'”
The couple quickly started a family, welcoming daughter Isabella in September 1998 and Olivia Jade a year later.
Loughlin often gushed about her husband, calling him “my guy, my person” in 2018, and noting that their relationship thrived on communication, flexibility, and picking their battles wisely.
