First Lady Melania Trump has launched a new global coalition for children called Fostering the Future Together. Announced on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, the first lady's new initiative is committed is committed to enhancing the well-being of children through the promotion of education, innovation and technology.
Mrs. Trump stated that Fostering the Future Together's mission is “to ensure that every child can flourish in the digital era.” Melania described innovation as "wonderful," and pointed out that "our nations benefit from advancements in technology—saving lives, expanding access to knowledge, connecting people, and of course, safety.”
“Great minds have turned marbles into microchips, paper airplanes into drones, and kites into satellites," the First Lady of the United States said. In her remarks, Melania also reminded guests that the "next generation will use tech to revolutionize how we live, travel, design, and connect.”
The objectives of the coalition's initial phase will include prioritizing the personal development of children; unifying efforts surrounding children, technology, and education; collaborating with the private sector to provide access to innovative education technology, including artificial intelligence, robotics and blockchain; and exchanging solutions encompassing the advantages and risks of artificial intelligence.
According to the Office of the First Lady, Fostering the Future Together members will include the spouses or equivalent representatives of heads of government. Mrs. Trump is set to host the coalition's inaugural meeting at the White House next year.
Spouses of heads of state and government gathered for the first lady's launch event on Sept. 23, held at the Lotte New York Palace, including Queen Rania of Jordan, HOLA! USA has confirmed.
Mrs. Trump and the Jordanian Queen, who visited the White House twice during President Donald Trump's first term, reconnected earlier this year. Ahead of President Trump's second inauguration in January, Rania and Melania met in Palm Beach, where they "discussed various issues of mutual interest, including children’s welfare, as well as improving their education. The Queen later shared a snapshot of the two of them, writing: "It was a pleasure reconnecting with incoming U.S. First Lady Melania Trump in Florida yesterday #Jordan #USA #Florida."
