Cardi B isn't biting her tongue, especially now, as all eyes are on her after she seemingly addressed the drama surrounding her boyfriend, NFL star Stefon Diggs, and his ongoing paternity battle. The 32-year-old rapper, who recently announced she’s expecting her fourth child — her first with Diggs — jumped on Instagram Live and left fans scratching their heads with a cryptic but telling response.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, model Aileen Lopera (better known online as Lord Gisselle) accused Diggs, 31, of fathering her baby girl, born in April 2025. Lopera originally filed documents back in December 2024 while still pregnant, requesting legal and physical custody of her child, though she granted Diggs visitation rights.
Diggs, however, denied paternity and asked the court for genetic testing. In his filing, he also noted that if proven to be the father, he’d want joint custody and shared financial responsibilities for pregnancy and birth-related expenses. Lopera went so far as to give her daughter Diggs’ last name — Charliee Harper Diggs-Lopera.
The case remains ongoing, with Lopera’s attorney telling PEOPLE that they look forward to the day Diggs “acknowledges and provides for his infant daughter.”
Cardi’s Bold Instagram Live Reference
Fans immediately connected Cardi B’s recent Instagram Live comments to the controversy. Channeling Shirley Brown’s 1974 classic “Woman to Woman,” Cardi delivered a biting reenactment of the famous spoken intro. “Hello, Barbara, this is Shirley,” she began, before firing off, “That’s your baby daddy, bitch? That’s my baby daddy, too.”
She didn’t stop there. “Well, what now? I don’t f------ know. We’ll figure it out, bitch.” While Cardi never mentioned Diggs or Lopera by name, the timing was unmistakable, just days after the paternity story broke.
A Complicated Family Dynamic
This isn’t Diggs’ first time navigating fatherhood drama. He already shares an 8-year-old daughter, Nova, from a previous relationship. Meanwhile, Cardi is already a mom of three with her estranged husband Offset: daughter Kulture, 7, son Wave, 4, and baby girl Blossom Belle, born in September 2024.
Now, with baby number four on the way, Cardi seems determined to juggle her growing family, her booming career, and the public scrutiny that comes with being tied to Diggs’ legal situation.
Cardi and Diggs: The Timeline of Their Romance
The pair first sparked dating rumors in October 2024, though they kept things low-key by attending the same events separately. By May 2025, they went public, making their first official appearance together courtside at Madison Square Garden for a Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks game.
And just one day before the paternity suit made headlines, Cardi revealed in a sit-down with Gayle King on CBS Mornings that she and Diggs are expecting a child together. “I’m happy,” she said. “I feel like I’m in a good space. I feel very strong, very powerful that I’m doing all this work — but I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby.”
For now, all eyes are on Diggs’ court-ordered paternity test, which could either put the rumors to rest or confirm that he’s a father once again. As for Cardi, she’s proving once again that she’ll meet controversy head-on.
