Cher and her much younger boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards, are showing no signs of slowing down. The singer, 79, has been dating the 39-year-old music executive since 2022, and their most recent public appearance proves their relationship is still thriving.
After attending multiple high-profile events together over the past three years, the couple looked closer than ever during a recent night out at Valentino’s beauty event after-party at Studio 54 in New York City. Cher told Vogue at the party, “As I was walking in, it was as if I had never left. It felt f**king fabulous.”
She and AE first met at Paris Fashion Week in September 2022 and went public not long after, with the singer confirming their relationship via social media that November.
On her latest night out, Cher was described as staying close to Edwards throughout much of the evening.
Cher has often addressed their age difference amid criticism of the gap between them.
On The Kelly Clarkson Show in December 2022, she said, “On paper, it’s ridiculous. But in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous, and I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve.”
She has also described Edwards as “very kind, very smart, very talented, and really funny.” Edwards, father of five-year-old son Slash with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose, has become integrated into Cher’s wider circle.
Cher called his boy “really cute” and her “close friend” in a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and has been seen with him at family and public events such as the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
Cher, born Cherilyn Sarkisian, first rose to fame in the 1960s alongside Sonny Bono as part of Sonny and Cher, becoming known for her distinctive contralto voice and fearless fashion.
She went on to launch a wildly successful solo career, scoring hits across pop, rock, and dance. Cher also found success in acting, ultimately winning an Academy Award for her performance in Moonstruck.
