When Bad Bunny brought Belinda on stage during his concert residency in Puerto Rico, fans witnessed a full-circle moment. It wasn’t just another surprise guest performance. It was the meeting of two artists whose connection had been brewing in lyrics, references, and subtle nods for years.

Few knew that Bad Bunny had been a Belinda fan since childhood, but their encounter proved that admiration sometimes takes the scenic route before manifesting in real life.

Bad Bunny had been a Belinda fan since childhood.

Let’s break down every time “El Conejo Malo” has name-dropped Belinda in his music.

Bad Bunny’s Early Belinda References

“Dime si te acuerdas” (2018)

The first lyrical wink came in “Dime si te acuerdas”. Bad Bunny raps: “Tú ere’ mi Belinda, yo tu Christian.” At the time, Belinda’s romance with regional Mexican singer Christian Nodal was everywhere.

The Double Feature

“VOU 787”

This track dives deeper into nostalgia. Bad Bunny name-checks Mariana and Silvana, the twin sisters Belinda famously played in the 2002 telenovela "Cómplices al rescate." By weaving this reference into his verse, he not only showed he knew her history but also reminded fans that his admiration for Belinda stretched all the way back to childhood.

“Perro Negro”

Then came the knockout. In “Perro Negro”, Bad Bunny made one of his most direct Belinda references yet, rapping: “...enchulao como Belinda.” It was cheeky, bold, and instantly went viral. When he performed the song in Puerto Rico with Belinda present, the energy exploded.

Belinda’s Response

In 2024, she released “La Cuadrada” with Tito Double P, a corrido tumbado where she sings the line: “Te traigo enchula’o, como diría Benito.” The call-and-response vibe made fans go wild, sealing their lyrical back-and-forth as one of the most playful exchanges in Latin music in recent years.

Proof That Bad Bunny’s Admiration Runs Deep

The internet loves receipts, and an old photo of a young Bad Bunny holding a "Cómplices al rescate" CD did exactly that. It confirmed that his admiration for Belinda didn’t start in 2018; it had roots in his childhood. Before he was a global superstar, Benito was just a kid watching Belinda on TV and dreaming big.

Despite all the lyrical chemistry, the big twist is that Bad Bunny and Belinda had never even met in person until she attended Bad Bunny's Puerto Rican residency concert in 2025.

Why Fans Can’t Get Enough

Bad Bunny and Belinda's story goes beyond gossip or scandal; it is rooted in a genuine admiration that started from childhood fandom. This admiration transformed into lyrical shoutouts and eventually led to real-life recognition on stage.

Belinda lived in Spain until 1993, when her family relocated to Mexico City.

Perhaps that's why it resonates so much with people. After all, who hasn’t admired someone from a distance, only to find themselves sharing the same stage one day?
