Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi have officially stepped into parenthood, and they did it in their own way. On Thursday, August 21, the couple surprised fans with an emotional Instagram post revealing that they had adopted a baby girl over the summer.
“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” they wrote in a joint message. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3. Love, Millie and Jake Bongiovi.”
The news marks a major milestone for the 21-year-old Stranger Things actress and her 23-year-old husband, who is the son of music icon Jon Bon Jovi, as they begin this new chapter as a family of three.
Millie's dreams of becoming a mom:
Millie had long dreamed of being a mother, even before meeting Jake. Back in March, during an episode of the Smartless podcast, she shared, “My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. And you know, it's been my thing since before I met Jake... I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”
For her, starting a family was never tied exclusively to biology. “I don't see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting,” she explained. “And my thing was, I really want a family. I really want a big family. I'm one of four. He's one of four. So, it is definitely in our future.”
Brown added that Jake was on board, but with one condition. “Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married. So that was his thing.”
That same month, she also spoke about her desire to shave her head again, a symbolic gesture tied to motherhood. On the Call Her Daddy podcast, she explained, “I always tell Jake for my first baby, I wanna shave my hair off. I don't know. I just feel like it was really liberating. Would suggest it for anyone, any girl.”
“Maybe like right before I'm about to give birth. Because I just think hair is such an ordeal anyway to deal with... Why deal with my hair? I think it's such a liberating experience, like to be a woman is, and I felt like I had that experience as a girl, but I'd like to have that experience as a woman," she added.
A relationship that grew from friendship:
In 2021, Bongiovi posted a selfie with the actress that sparked dating rumors. By November, the couple had gone Instagram official. “I was interested in him and wanted to know more,” she said in an interview with The Sunday Times in 2023. “As soon as we spoke I knew he was going to be a huge part of my life. After we met we knew we never wanted to leave each other’s side.”
After more than two years of dating, the couple got engaged in April 2023. They first tied the knot in a small, private ceremony in May 2024, followed by a more elaborate celebration months later in Italy. That October, they shared stunning photos from their Villa Cetinale wedding, surrounded by friends and family. “Forever and always, your wife,” she captioned her wedding post. Bongiovi posted his own set with the words, “Forever and always, your husband.”
