Pete Davidson is opening up about the guilt he feels over how fame has impacted his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, during her pregnancy — a time he believes should be special and private.
Speaking candidly on a recent episode of the Breakfast Club, the comedian shared how he struggles with the attention that comes with their relationship.
“I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of s–t,” Davidson admitted. “Anything we do or she does now is gonna be a thing,” he added, noting that both he and Hewitt are typically very private people.
“I feel really bad because … she’s a very private person and she’s the one going through it. She’s the one doing all the work,” the 31-year-old continued.
“It’s supposed to be a beautiful experience,” he said, explaining that despite his feelings, Hewitt has been nothing but supportive. She has “never made me feel this way or said anything” to cause his guilt.
“But I feel so guilty and horrible that in any way, shape, or form … I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy,” Davidson shared. “Luckily, she loves me and knows what comes with me, and we’ve talked about it before we were fully in a relationship, but I really feel s–tty for her in that aspect,” he added.
Davidson also revealed that Hewitt hadn’t wanted to go public with their baby news when they did in July — but ultimately, they felt they had no choice. “She didn’t want to post” the announcement, he said, explaining they delayed sharing it for as long as they could.
Hewitt eventually confirmed the pregnancy on Instagram with a carousel of photos and videos, adding a cheeky caption: “welp now everyone knows we had sex.”
An insider told Page Six at the time, “Pete is so excited for this next chapter. His family is thrilled and can’t wait to become grandparents, aunts, etc.”
Hewitt’s post followed fan speculation sparked by a bikini photo that prompted comments like, “New boobs or pregnant?” and “babes you either got new boobs or are preggo 👀.”
Davidson’s relationship with Hewitt was first reported by Page Six in March. Her identity was later confirmed, and the couple made their public debut that same month, showing PDA during a getaway to Palm Beach, Florida.
