Employees at a Chanel store at Istinye Park in Istanbul, Turkey, are probably getting scolded after Jennifer Lopez was denied entry to their store on Monday. According to Turkish Media Patron Lardunyasi, security didn't recognize her, which likely stopped the store from earning thousands of dollars that day.
The 56-year-old singer is currently on her Up All Night tour, and on August 5th, she took the stage at Yenikapi Festival Park. Ahead of the performance, she was trying to get some retail therapy in at the shopping centre.
When she tried to enter the Chanel store, the guard reportedly told her, 'We're full," per Patron Lardunyasi. Lopez was photographed in an all-pink outfit, very much looking like the star she is, with her entourage, including her bodyguard.
JLo took it with grace, replying "Okay, no problem" and headed to the Celine and Beymen stores next door for a three-hour shopping spree where she "spent tens of thousands of dollars."
Realizing what happened, the media outlet says the guard who rejected her the first time approached her to invite her back to the store, and she declined.
Times Jennifer Lopez has been unrecognized
It's probably incredibly rare that Lopez isn't recognized, but it's not the first time it's happened. A viral clip from 2014 often makes its rounds on the internet of the "Jenny from the Block" singer visiting her childhood home in the Bronx.
She strolls up to the home with a camera crew, and outside is an older gentleman. "I used to live here," she tells him. "You who?" he responds, asking, "What's your name?" "My name is Jennifer," she causally replies before saying her room was right upstairs. "Who's Jennifer Lopez?" the man continues obliviously. "Me, I used to live here," she repeats.
But perhaps the most infamous time the icon has been snubbed was by Mariah Carey in 2003. The now viral moment happened after a German media outlet asked about her amid their rumored feud. "I don’t know her,” Carey responded, shaking her head.
The "Fantasy" singer doubled down, telling TMZ in 2016, “I still don’t know her." That same year, Lopez addressed the moment herself, telling Wendy Williams, “She’s forgetful, I guess. We’ve met many times! I don’t know her that well.”
Despite the moments, JLo always carries herself with confidence. And with all her success, it's likely not keeping her up at night.
