Gwyneth Paltrow has been named the "temporary spokesperson" of Astronomer amid the CEO's Coldplay kiss cam drama.
Almost two weeks after Andy Byron, the tech company’s married CEO, was caught on a concert kiss cam with his arms wrapped around Human Resources executive Kristin Cabot, Paltrow starred in a new ad for the company. The Goop founder's ex-husband, Chris Martin, played a key role in the very viral moment. Cabot is also reportedly married and both she and Byron have since resigned from the company.
The video, shared to the company’s social media accounts, is captioned, “Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”
“I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” Gwyneth began in the video, going on to say that the company had received “a lot of questions over the last few days."
Following her introduction, Paltrow explained that she would be answering the most common questions Astronomer has received thus far, the first being, “OMG! What the actual f***?”
“Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow, unifying the experience of running data, ML and AI pipelines at scale,” Paltrow said, avoiding the question to highlight what Astronomer does.
The next question was, “How is your social media team holding...”
But before the full question could appear on the screen, Paltrow pivoted once again, mentioning that the company still has room for its Beyond Analytics event in September.
“We will now be returning to what we do best, which is delivering game-changing results for our customers," she concluded. "Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”
The viral moment happened during the July 15 concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., when a cameraman was panning across the crowd before spotting Byron and Cabot. In a video shared to TikTok, the former CEO stood behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist.
"Oh, look at these two,” Martin, 48, said before the former coworkers desperately tried to dodge the camera. “All right, c'mon, you're okay.”
The singer was visibly confused, continuing, “Oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.”
Astronomer cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has since been named interim CEO.
