TRUE CRIME

Cardi B is being sued for her infamous mic-throwing incident in Vegas

The lawsuit comes almost exactly 2 years since the throw

Cardi B appears at Queens County Criminal Court after not meeting her requirements for her misdemeanor guilty plea on January 17, 2023 in New York City. Cardi B violated the terms of her agreement by not fulfilling the 15 days of community service she agreed to in her plea. The judge has given her a second chance and she must fulfill her agreement by March 1st or face jail time. (Photo by Adam Gray-Pool/Getty Images)© Getty.

Cardi B may have thought she got away with hurtling a microphone at a fan during her 2023 performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas, but almost exactly two years later, a woman is suing her.

Cardi hurled the mic after asking fans to throw water, but not on her face

According to TMZ, the woman, identified in court docs only as Jane Doe, is suing Cardi for assault, battery, and negligence, claiming she was hit by the mic after simply doing what Cardi asked: throwing water on her.

It's no secret that Vegas gets hot in the summer. According to weather records, it hit a high of 110 degrees the day Cardi took the stage at the famous beach club. She was recorded telling the crowd to throw water on her to cool her off.

Several fans obliged, and for a second, it looked like a playful way to beat the heat with her even saying, "that s**t feels good, put that s**t in my p***y b***h." She did tell the crowd not to throw it on her face, though, saying at one point, "That was too fast."

Later on in the show, the woman did another powerful toss of water, which hit Cardi in the face and set her off. She quickly threw the mic at what looked like full force into the crowd. At the time, it was unclear who it hit, but now Jane Doe is saying it was her, and that she's been emotionally distressed ever since.

Her attorney, Cierra N. Norris, is holding a press conference Thursday in Vegas, doubling down on the lawsuit and alleging that the aftermath only made things worse. There are various angles of the incident, and in one, the woman can be seen looking scared, saying "I'm sorry" over and over again to an angry Cardi.

For example, the microphone Cardi threw was auctioned off for $99,000 in the days following the incident, which Jane Doe says "exacerbated" the distress.

Cardi B is no stranger to legal drama

It's not the first time Cardi has faced legal drama. In 2022, she pleaded guilty to two charges connected to a strip club attack back in 2018 when she allegedly ordered a beatdown on two bartenders she suspected were involved with her ex, Offset.

That plea deal got her 15 days of community service and a stern warning from the judge. She’s also been in and out of court over defamation lawsuits, including one high-profile case she won against YouTuber Tasha K, who spread damaging rumors about her online.

Her team hasn’t commented yet, but the clip is out there, and it's safe to say Cardi won't be asking fans to throw water on her in the future.
