Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking back fondly on a short-lived but memorable chapter in his family’s life: his son Patrick Schwarzenegger’s relationship with Miley Cyrus
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the Terminator star reflected on the former couple’s five-month romance in 2014–2015, calling Miley “a wonderful, wonderful girl and human being and very, very talented.”
During the interview, he also revealed that he was sad that his son’s romance with Miley Cyrus did not work out, also sharing that the entire Schwarzenegger family “just all loved her.” The 31-year-old actor dated the 32-year-old singer and actress from November 2014 until April 2015, and Arnold, 77, loved it when his family hung out with Miley.
The Terminator actor, who also has daughters Katherine Schwarzenegger, 35, and Christina Schwarzenegger, 33, as well as son Christopher Schwarzenegger, 27, with his ex-wife Maria Shriver, 69, and a third son, Joseph Baena, 27, with Mildred Baena, said his family “loved” the Flowers hitmaker.
Referencing the time when Miley joined Patrick’s family during a ski trip, Arnold added, “She was just such a wonderful houseguest. We just all loved her.”
When Cohen asked about the “best and worst part” of Patrick dating Miley, Arnold was quick to respond, “There is no worst part. She was just a really good, good person and fun to hang out with. I’m sorry it didn’t work out.”
He continued, “But Patrick, in the meantime, found another girl that he got engaged to and is getting married to in September.”
Patrick announced his engagement to 28-year-old model Abby Champion in December 2023. In a January interview with InStyle magazine, The White Lotus actor opened up about their decade-long relationship, saying they already feel married.
“We’ve been together 10 years, so it’s like we’re basically married,” he shared. “But we’re better as humans together than we would be apart. We bring out the best in each other. I feel that I’m the best version of myself with her, and I think she does as well.”
Patrick also revealed the couple starts each day with a peaceful morning ritual: a walk to the beach. “Every morning, I go on a walk with my fiancée to the beach. It’s just us. No work, no noise. We go down there and just think about what we’re thankful for. That’s a constant in my life.”
He added, “I think it’s great to have a moment in your day where you can take stock. And, maybe even sit still long enough to take in some of that golden light.”
