Jennifer Garner showed love and appreciation for her ex-husband Ben Affleck on Father’s Day, sharing a rare throwback photo that shows the warmth and respect they continue to share. The pair has successfully co-parented their three kids despite their divorce.
The 53-year-old actress posted a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram Stories featuring a touching image of Ben, 52, lying on a couch with one of their three children as a baby peacefully resting on his chest. “Happy Father’s Day to 3 people’s favorite landing spot,” she captioned the post, looking back at the sweet family moment.
The former couple, who divorced in 2018 after 13 years of marriage, share Violet, 19, Fin 16, and Samuel, 13. Despite going their separate ways, the pair have maintained a positive and cooperative co-parenting relationship, always attending school events together and spending the holidays as a family.
In a recent interview with GQ, the actor praised Jennifer as a “really good co-parent and partner,” emphasizing the teamwork they share in raising their children. He also revealed how they manage their family’s privacy amid public speculation, joking about how they reassure their kids about tabloid rumors. “We would say, ‘This isn’t always true, because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters,’” he explained.
Their relationship began long ago, having met on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2002 and making their first public appearance as a couple in 2004. They quietly married in 2005 and welcomed their three children over the years before announcing their divorce in 2015.
Ben once told People magazine, “When you have children with somebody, you're connected to them forever. I'm very lucky she is the mother of my children. I'm very grateful and respectful of her. Our marriage didn’t work, and that’s difficult. But both of us believe it’s important for kids to see their parents respect one another and get along, whether they’re together or not.”
Before honoring her former husband, Garner also posted a touching Father’s Day tribute to her own late father, William John Garner, who passed away in 2024. She wrote, “Being fathered by someone who loves being a dad is a gift."
Jennifer is currently in a relationship with businessman John Miller, and he reportedly has a very good relationship with Affleck, supporting their co-parenting efforts and friendship.
