Vanessa Bryant sends powerful message of unity amid LA protests

Vanessa Bryant is sharing her thoughts regarding the political situation developing in America. The wife of the late Kobe Bryant shared a statement on social media, speaking up about the ongoing Los Angeles protests and the rights of immigrants.

Bryant shared the statement on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself dressed in the style of the "Día de los Muertos," wearing a crown of flowers and a black dress with a bright and purple heart stitched in the chest. "As a Latina, a proud Mexican American, and above all, a human being, my heart breaks for the families being torn apart," reads her statement. 

"No matter where we come from, no matter how we got here, we all deserve to be treated with humanity and respect."

Bryant shared her statement on Instagram

Bryant, born Vanessa Urbieta Cornejo, is of Mexican and Irish heritage. Her mother was of Mexican and Filipino descent, while her father was Mexican. She's the latest celebrity to share a message following the Los Angeles protests and ICE raids that have been taking place over the past year.

Kim Kardashian shares her thoughts on the latest ICE protests in LA

Artists and personalities like Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, and more shared their thoughts regarding the Los Angeles protests, adding their support for immigrants. 

"What’s happening in Los Angeles and across the country is heartbreaking," said Lovato in a statement. "Immigrants are a vital part of our community and the fabric of our country.”

For her part, Kardashian expressed that it was important for her to speak up in the face of things that are wrong. "But when we witness innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up. We have to do what's right," she wrote.

Longoria provided resources for her followers, asking them to collaborate with organizations that can provide help for immigrants in need.
