Shakira's concerts have entered a streak of hindrances. Late last week, Shakira canceled her scheduled appearance at WorldPride in Washington D.C., citing an issue that's occurring in her production that resulted in the cancellation of her Boston show.
The performance was scheduled to take place on Saturday, with WorldPride being one of the biggest LGBTQ+ festivals in the world.
“Because of the unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances that affected me and other artists in Boston, my full tour production is not able to be moved to Washington, DC in time for my scheduled performance on Saturday," said Shakira in a statement.
"I have been counting the days, excited to be reunited with my fans in both Washington and Boston", she said. "I promise that I will do everything in my power to be with you as soon I can."
Shakira's fan response
Fans who traveled from different locations to see Shakira perform have shared their thoughts on social media. "Flew in from LA for this. I'm experiencing a second cancellation of this tour," wrote a user. "Rather disappointing."
"I'm heartbroken," wrote a second person. "My mom’s birthday gift was going to be you at DC. Is it’s cancelled. This is so unfair."
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also shared her thoughts on Shakira's show cancellation, encouraging her to come to the show. “I want to do this for all of us. Shakira, girl, get yourself here!" she said. “You got the rest of the week - get yourself here! We love you, we want to see you, we want to rock with you, party with you!”
According to CBS News, Shakira's Boston show was canceled due to a safety issue with the stage. Live Nation said that "structural elements were identified as not being up to standard."
Shakira's next show is scheduled to take place today in Atlanta. On her Instagram stories, Shakira has shared videos of herself and her crew arriving to their destination, quelling concerns from her fans.
