Gwyneth Paltrow wants the world to know there’s zero drama between her and Meghan Markle.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the Mindvalley Manifesting Summit in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 17, the Oscar-winning actress, 52, opened up about her budding connection with the Duchess of Sussex, 43, and put lingering rumors of a feud firmly to rest. While the two powerhouse women haven’t yet shared much face time, Paltrow was clear about the kind of relationship they do have.
"We have a text friendship so far. I've been traveling quite a bit," she shared, smiling.
And when it came to the internet-fueled chatter about supposed tension between the two, Paltrow didn’t hold back. "I don't like that, when people try to pit women against each other," she said, squashing the narrative in a single sentence.
Asked whether she’d be open to appearing on Season 2 of Meghan’s new Netflix series With Love, Meghan, Paltrow didn’t rule it out. "Sure! Why not? You never know. I don't bake that well, but I can always try," she joked.
Back in March, the Iron Man star echoed similar sentiments in a Vanity Fair interview, doubling down on her support for Meghan’s newly launched lifestyle brand, As Ever.
“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes. I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try," she said. “Another woman is never your competition."
The two women have even poked fun at the “feud” rumors themselves during a playful Instagram Q&A session. When a fan asked Paltrow if she was “comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have,” her response was refreshingly candid: "I genuinely do not understand this at all, whatsoever."
As Paltrow turned the camera away, Meghan suddenly appeared next to her at the kitchen table, laughing and motioning that she was just as confused by the speculation.
