Salma Hayek kept things low-key in New York City on Friday, just days after opening up about her tight-knit friendship with Blake Lively, right in the middle of the actress’s rumored fallout with longtime bestie Taylor Swift.
Earlier in the week, the Frida star, 58, was spotted grabbing dinner with the Gossip Girl alum, 37, on Tuesday. Their catch-up came at a particularly dramatic moment: the very public unraveling of Lively's decade-long friendship with Swift. The drama unfolded last week when the Grammy-winning singer was subpoenaed in connection with Lively’s legal battle involving It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Reports later emerged that Blake allegedly threatened to release private messages from Swift if she didn’t take her side.
Fast-forward just a few days, and Hayek was on the red carpet at the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party, opening up about her “close” bond with Lively. The two previously shared the screen in the gritty 2012 crime drama Savages, and their relationship seems to have grown even stronger since.
Speaking to E! News, Hayek revealed she’s been friends with both Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds for years—and even shares a sweet connection with their four kids.
"I got a chance to go play with them. They got to see the tía Salma," she said. "They can also speak some Spanish."
Hayek has also starred opposite Reynolds in The Hitman's Bodyguard and its sequel, deepening the ties between the two Hollywood families. Her admiration for Blake isn't new. At Variety's Power of Women luncheon in 2017, Hayek delivered a heartfelt tribute to Lively.
"I still have never met anybody that, at such an early stage in their life, had such a sense of self, so much courage," she said. "I saw her take on one of the biggest bullies in this industry that everybody feared. She has a great sense of family. She has a great sense of honorability, fantastic values. She has a great sense of fashion, sense of humor. She is the ultimate mother—even to me."
