Gwyneth Paltrow always shows up dressed to impress, and over the weekend, the Oscar-winning actress made a rare public appearance at Maria Shriver’s book event at Godmother’s Bookstore in Summerland, CA. She rocked a peak polished belted dark-denim maxi-jacket with a matching bag, but eagle-eyed observers caught a silly fashion faux pas in the process.
The queen of GOOP is always hip to the latest trends, which was reflected in what looked to be brand-new, fresh-out-of-the-box shoes. But in a very human moment, Paltrow forgot to remove two large sticker labels from the soles of her black sandals. It’s one of those things you don’t notice until you do, and it makes her feel all too relatable.
There are certainly worse things someone can do fashion-wise, but this one’s just funny. Paltrow has become a face for "quiet luxury," so it's a harmless and very relatable reminder that even celebrities forget to do a double-check before walking out the door. She attended the event with Rob Lowe's wife, Sheryl Berkoff, who wore a sleek black suit.
The event was in celebration of Shriver’s latest memoir, I Am Maria: My Reflections and Poems on Heartbreak, Healing, and Finding Your Way Home, which dropped April 1. It was a short trip for Paltrow, whose 14.5 million dollar mansion is nearby in Montecito.
While Paltrow keeps her public appearances to a minimum, she and Shriver seem to have a close bond. Shriver, who was formerly married to Arnold Schwarzenegger, attended a Goop product launch back in 2023.
Shriver’s book is deeply personal. In it, she opens up about everything from identity and self-worth to grief, heartbreak, and healing.
The poetry and reflections were inspired by some of the most difficult chapters in her life, including the deaths of both of her parents, her divorce, and the internal struggles she kept hidden for years.
