Ángela Aguilar, the radiant star of regional Mexican music, recently made a bold style move by ditching her signature short hair for a voluminous, flowing mane thanks to extensions. And while the look has sparked plenty of praise, there's buzz that she may soon go back to her classic cropped style, mostly because of her husband, Christian Nodal.
Social media has been eating up a viral audio clip of an interview where Ángela was asked: "How does Christian like your hair—short or long?" Her answer gave fans a peek into a private convo she had with Nodal.
"Not long ago, I went to get my extensions redone, they took them out and put them back in. When I sent him a photo of me with my natural hair, he said, 'Please, just keep it like that,'" Ángela shared, according to Milenio, referencing a TikTok post by @monarca.base.
Still, she explained the long-haired look is tied to the visual identity of her new album, "Nadie Se Va Como Llegó," which drops May 22. "I told him, 'Love, I have to keep this look for the album. Just give me a month. I'll take them off after that,'" said the 21-year-old singer, daughter of the legendary Pepe Aguilar.
Recently, Ángela was spotted with Nodal getting her extensions touched up by stylist Miguel de la Mora at his Polanco, Mexico City salon. The session turned into a mini date, with the young couple showing off their sweet chemistry. "We refreshed @angela_aguilar_'s look with subtle highlights, perfect for summer, maintaining her essence while adding light and movement to her hair," De la Mora explained.
Marriage Vibes and New Music Energy
In another part of the leaked audio, Ángela opened up about how life's treating her as her first wedding anniversary approaches, and it sounds like she's thriving. "This phase of my life is amazing. I'm super happy, super content, and very inspired. I feel like this moment kicked off a new chapter in my music where I'm experimenting with new things," she said.
Oh, and about that whole "señorita" thing? She's over it. Despite being 21, Ángela says people still call her "Angelita" or "miss," especially those who've known her since she was little. But as a married woman, she'd rather be recognized accordingly.
"Everyone forgets, even me, that I'm 21. People still call me Angelita. At restaurants, at family dinners, it's always Angelita. So I'm not a miss, but I'm not a señora either," she joked. "Sometimes when people call me señorita, I get offended. Like, 'Excuse me, look at this (points to her ring). It's Señora González, even if it's harder to say. Thank you.'" That's a nod to Nodal's last name, by the way.

The verdict's still out. Ángela's glam long hair might stick around until her album era wraps, but after that, it sounds like Team Short Hair, led by Christian Nodal, might win the battle. Either way, fans are here for whatever look she rocks next.
