President Donald Trump wasn't the only dignitary not dressed in black at Pope Francis' funeral. The Prince of Wales and King Abdullah II of Jordan were among other attendees who opted for blue suits for the somber occasion on Saturday.

According to Gert's Royals, "The dress code for the Pope's funeral stated Men can wear Black, Grey or Navy suits with a black tie." Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that men were "required to wear a dark suit with a white shirt, a long black tie and a black button on the left lapel of their jacket."

Prince William, who attended the funeral on behalf of his father King Charles, wore a black tie with his suit, while President Trump and the King of Jordan teamed theirs with a navy tie.

The president and King were accompanied to the service by their respective wives, First Lady Melania Trump and Queen Rania of Jordan, who were both dressed in black. Melania, who is said to be the first Catholic first lady since Jacqueline Kennedy, wore a cross necklace with her double-breasted coat and lace veil.

The funeral on April 26 coincided with the first lady's 55th birthday. On the flight to Rome the day before, the 45th and 47th president of the United States told reporters on Air Force One that his wife has "a working birthday" this year. Asked if he planned on taking the first lady to dinner, President Trump said, "I'll take her for dinner on the Boeing. I'll take her for dinner on Air Force One."

Prior to the funeral, sources told PEOPLE that Melania was "honored" to be attending Pope Francis' funeral and that she "admired" the late pontiff. Another source shared with the magazine that the first lady had "no issue" in attending the funeral on her birthday, adding, "She will make the most of her birthday in the time frame after the event."

Melania and Donald met with the late pontiff during President Trump's first term.

The 266th pope died of a stroke, coma and irreversible cardiovascular collapse on April 21. The president paid tribute to the pope following His Holiness' passing, posting on Truth Social: "Rest in Peace Pope Francis! May God Bless him and all who loved him!"

The first lady also mourned the death of the pope, writing on X, "On this Easter Monday, we remember His Holiness, Pope Francis. I join millions of people around the world in mourning his loss."

"I will always cherish my trip to the Holy See in 2017," Melania added. "May he rest in peace."
