The Blue Origin all-female launch has the world talking, debating, and sharing some hilarious content. With stars like Emily Ratajkowski showing their distaste, Martha Stewart is the latest to join the conversation, trolling and proving she’s always been ahead of her time.
On Thursday, the 83-year-old shared a throwback video from 2007, where she took part in a zero-gravity adventure in Florida. "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind?" she wrote over the video, clearly taking a playful jab at Katy Perry, who has been catching the most heat amid the space chaos.
The cookbook author and former felon was 66 at the time, flipping through the air with ease in a blue suit similar to the ones worn by Perry, Lauren Sánchez, Aisha Bowe, Kerianne Flynn, and Amanda Nguyen.
“In case you spaced out in 2007, Martha has always been ahead of her time,” read the hilarious caption. The comments were full of fans hyping her up. “Expert trolling,” read one. “The shade!!!” wrote Perez Hilton. Others chimed in with, “Martha Stewart started the ‘Women Taking Up Space’ movement,” and “Love the universal dragging. So good.”
Drama unfolds after the launch
Following the Blue Origin launch, there have been two sides discussing the launch, one defending it, and the other roasting it to oblivion. Ratajkowski called the launch “end time s***,” blasting it as a parody of environmentalism.
Olivia Wilde reposted memes mocking the mission, writing, “Billion dollars bought some good memes I guess.”
Olivia Munn questioned the point entirely, saying, “What are you doing up there?” and joked about the cost of eggs vs. space travel.
Jessica Chastain shared a critical Guardian piece, and even Wendy’s chimed in, tweeting, “Can we send her back?” after Perry’s return.
The conversation has become less about reaching for the stars and more about how far out of touch it all feels.
But amid the backlash, there have been some people defending it, like Jessica Alba. "I've seen endless criticisms of 5 women doing their space thing," she wrote on Instagram. "I can't see how it affects our lives. I wish people would show the same energy & focus that anger towards fearlessly denouncing Trump's abuses of power, which do affect countless lives in the US and the world."
