In an interview with "60 Minutes", Clooney discussed his work as a lead in romantic comedies, an era that was immensely successful for his career. He revealed that he's no longer interested in pursuing those parts.

“Look, I’m 63 years old. I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men,” said Clooney. “That’s not my job. I’m not doing romantic films anymore.”

Clooney has long been known as one of Hollywood's biggest heartthrobs, selected as PEOPLE's "Sexiest Man Alive" twice.

George Clooney began his career starring in various TV shows, including "ER"

Throughout his career, he starred in films with key romantic storylines like "One Fine Day" with Michelle Pheiffer, "Intolerable Cruelty" with Catherine Zeta-Jones, and "Out of Sight" with Jennifer Lopez.

"Sure, that was a big time for me," said Clooney when the interviewer brought up his status as the former Sexiest Man Alive. "Not that you're not sexy now," said the interviewer.

"It's okay. I'm not hurt by it," said Clooney with a smile. You can watch the interview in full below.

Clooney's preparation for Broadway

Clooney will be starring in "Good Night, and Good Luck," his first foray into Broadway, playing the newsman Edward R. Murrow. It's one of the biggest moves Clooney has made in his career, one that prompted a move for his family from France to New York for the spring.

It also promoted a change in hairstyle. He dyed his hair brown and shared the opinion of his wife Amal and kids in an interview with The New York Times.

"My wife is going to hate it because nothing makes you look older than when an older guy dyes his hair," he said. "My kids are going to just laugh at me nonstop."
