Her last public appearance was on January 24, 2025, when she accompanied President Donald Trump to disaster-stricken areas in North Carolina and California. Since then, she has kept a low profile, skipping several major events, including the Super Bowl and the Daytona 500, both of which the President attended alone.

But that does not mean the First Lady has been inactive. Behind the scenes, she has been focused on her work, recently announcing that the White House will reopen for public tours. Starting February 25, visitors will once again have the opportunity to explore the historic residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The resumption of tours reflects a return to one of the White House’s longstanding traditions, allowing the public to experience its history and significance firsthand.

The formal event, held in the White House’s East Room, is a longstanding tradition where governors meet with the President and First Lady in a social setting.

President Trump took a moment to acknowledge the First Lady for her efforts in organizing the event. "Let me begin by expressing our gratitude to the First Lady of the United States for hosting the dinner," he said.

The First Lady chooses sophisticated black tuxedo for NGA dinner reception

Much like her official White House portrait, First Lady Melania Trump continues to reshape the traditional First Lady aesthetic, opting for a modern and sophisticated approach.

At the National Governors Association Dinner Reception, she stepped away from convention, choosing a sleek black tuxedo over a traditional gown. The sharp tailored blazer and crisp white button-up shirt created a look that was both polished and commanding, reinforcing her signature blend of elegance and confidence.

In her first magazine cover in 16 years for ¡HOLA!, we have the opportunity to chat with her longtime stylist, Hervé Pierre. He highlighted her preference for tailored suits and sharp lines, emphasizing that her approach to fashion remains consistent.

"You just need to look at the new official portrait by Régine Mahaux—that photo alone answers a lot of questions," Pierre explained. "She favors tailored suits and sharp lines in her looks. She certainly won’t start wearing ruffles and little floral prints just because she’s entering a new chapter. She is inspired by and gravitates toward strong tailoring, sleek silhouettes, and perfect cuts with no fuss."
