Shakira had no choice but to cancel her Sunday show in Lima, Peru, after being sent to the hospital. She took to Instagram to make the shocking announcement, revealing that she will postpone the show she was slated to perform on February 16 as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour.

In a statement posted to her Instagram Stories in both English and Spanish, the "TQG" singer wrote that she had to go to the emergency room due to an “abdominal” condition, for which she is currently hospitalized. While Shakira admits to being upset over the cancelation, she made sure to tell her Peruvian fans that she would make up the show for them sometime soon.

“The doctors who are taking care of me have informed me I’m not in condition to perform a concert tonight,” the superstar began in her statement ahead of her planned show at Lima’s Estadio Nacional.

“I’m very sad to not be able to get onstage today,” she continued. “I’ve been full of excitement and anticipation to see my beloved Peruvian fans again. I hope to be better tomorrow and to be discharged as soon as possible to be able to give you the show I’ve prepared for all of you."

“Our plan is to do this show as soon as possible," Shakira assured fans who already have tickets.  My team and the promoter are working on a new date to provide you. Thank you for understanding. I love you very much.”

She is still scheduled to perform in her native Colombia beginning Feb. 21, though it is still unknown if she will be well enough to perform by then.
