Buckingham Palace welcomed fashion royalty this week. On Tuesday, King Charles presented Vogue's Anna Wintour with the Order of the Companions of Honour for her services to fashion.

"It's wonderful to be back at Buckingham Palace and I was completely surprised and overwhelmed to be given this great honour," Anna said following the investiture ceremony (via GB News).

She also revealed, "This morning His Majesty asked me if this meant I was going to stop working and I said firmly, no." Anna recalled that the last time she was there, His Majesty's mother, Queen Elizabeth, gave her a medal and they "both agreed that we'd been doing our jobs for a very long time."

Anna was made a Companion of Honour in the King's 2023 Birthday Honours List. According to the royal family's website, the Companion of Honour is "a special award granted to those who have made a major contribution to the arts, science, medicine, or government lasting over a long period of time." The Order of the Companions of Honour was founded by George V in 1917. There can only be 65 members at any one time.

True to form, Anna looked incredibly stylish for the investiture ceremony on Feb. 4, wearing a grey Alexander McQueen skirt suit teamed with boots and a statement necklace. She also wore her signature sunglasses, which she removed for the ceremony.

Photos of the editor-in-chief of Vogue, including one of her with the King, were shared on the royal family's Instagram account. "🕶️🎖️ Congratulations Dame Anna Wintour! Today at Buckingham Palace, The King presented the legendary Editor-in-Chief of @voguemagazine with the Order of the Companions of Honour for Services to Fashion," the post was captioned. "Well done to all who received their honours today. 👏."

Per GB News, Anna also commented on the report that the Princess of Wales had been offered a Vogue cover. "Yeah, I don't know where those rumours come from, do you?" she said with a smile. The Mail on Sunday reported on Jan. 25 that it understands the Princess had been offered the global covers of Vogue, and reported that Anna was "said to have made a personal appeal to" Her Royal Highness. A source told the outlet: "The princess has come a long way since that first cover. She's a global fashion icon but she is so much more."

"Her brave battle against cancer while raising three young children in the public eye makes her a role model to millions. Her story would be an inspiration to so many women going through what she has gone through," the source added. "She would get to chose which covers she would feature on but the UK and the US would be a given."
