Sofía Vergara left her mark at the 2025 Golden Globes. During the January 5 ceremony, the "Griselda" star brought her signature humor to the spotlight after losing the award for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture—Television to Jodie Foster, who won for her role in "True Detective: Night Country."

As presenters Seth Rogen and Catherine O'Hara announced Jodie's name, Sofía stood up and playfully yelled, "No, no!"—eliciting laughter from the audience. Jodie responded from the stage with a knowing smile, saying, "I know, I know." The lighthearted exchange continued as Sofía jokingly shouted, "Give me one!" referring to Jodie's impressive streak, which now includes five Golden Globes.

While accepting her award, Jodie, 62, acknowledged the talent of her fellow nominees, which included Cate Blanchett ("Disclaimer"), Cristin Milioti ("The Penguin"), Naomi Watts ("Feud: Capote vs. the Swans"), Kate Winslet ("The Regime"), and, of course, Sofía Vergara. "The greatest thing about being this age and being in this time is having a community of all of these people. Especially you, Sofía," Jodie said warmly.

The "True Detective" star also took a heartfelt moment to thank her family, including her wife of 10 years, Alexandra Hedison, and their two children, Charlie, 26, and Kit, 23. "Kit, my scientist son, and Charlie, my actor son who's starting his career," Jodie said with pride. "Hopefully you understand the joy, such joy, that comes from doing really hard, meaningful, good work." She ended her speech by dedicating the award to her family, saying, "My boys, I love you, and this, of course, is for you. And the love of my life, Alex. Thank you, forever."

Sofía kept the comedic energy alive

Despite the touching tribute, Sofía kept the comedic energy alive. As the camera panned back to her after Jodie's speech, the 52-year-old actress gave a spirited round of applause before throwing her hands in the air in mock exasperation. Her reaction quickly became one of the highlights of the night.
