Born and raised in Mexico City, Eiza is a singer and actress who starred in the beloved Mexican telenovela ‘Lola, Erase Una Vez.’ She was handpicked by Pedro Damian, the producer of the series, who was also responsible for producing beloved series like ‘Rebelde’. Eiza’s Hollywood breakthrough occurred with the musical ‘Jem and The Holograms,’ directed by Jon M. Chu, who has directed films like ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and more recently ‘In The Heights.’

The Mexican actress then starred in the series ‘From Dusk Til Dawn,’ a television adaptation of the iconic movie starring George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino. Eiza portrayed the role of Satanico Pandemonium, which, years before, was played by Salma Hayek and was pivotal in the start of her career. Eiza’s Hollywood rise then evolved rapidly, starring in ‘Baby Driver,’ the movie that cemented her role as an action star and that has been one of the most successful films in recent years. Over the past couple of years she’s starred in blockbusters like the Fast and Furious spin-off ‘Hobbes and Shaw,’ ‘Alita: Battle Angel,’ ‘Godzilla Vs Kong,’ and, most recently, the Netflix movie ‘I Care A Lot,’ a role that showcased a different set of skills from her and that earned accolades and critical acclaim.

This year, Eiza was named one of the top 5 grossing stars in Hollywood. She was ranked as the top-grossing Latino star in the industry, an honor she takes seriously, and thanked her fans on Twitter. The actress is the newest ambassador for the high-end jewelry company Bulgari. While the accomplishment is enough to be proud of on its own, there is an extra layer leaving the Mexican actress proud- she is the first Latina to be a North American Ambassador for the Italian company.

This July, she became a voting member in The Academy, and her future is primed for even more success and new endeavors, announcing that she’ll produce and star in a biopic about the Mexican film legend Maria Felix.

“This is one of the most exciting moments of my life. I’ve always wanted to tell a story that features women, namely Latina women. Maria was a pioneer of the feminist movement who helped lay the foundation for future female trailblazers,” she wrote on her Instagram. “Maria is an inspiration to me and many others. I’m so grateful to the Maria Felix estate for choosing us to share her story with the world!”
