Alec Baldwin and Hilaria welcome a baby boy: see the first pic

Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria are celebrating the birth of their baby boy. Yoga teacher Hilaria, 31, shared a photo on Instagram of her newborn son's hand clutching onto hers, and announced his name, captioning the photo: "We are happy to announce the birth of Rafael Thomas Baldwin" alongside a heart emoticon.

The newest member of the family joins sisters Ireland, 19, who is Alec's daughter with Kim Basinger, and 21-month-old Carmen.

Hilaria Baldwin announced that she had given birth with a sweet photo on Instagram

When the 30 Rock star first learned that his wife was expecting his first boy he couldn't have been more thrilled. She said: "The day that I told him he carried a football around for an hour afterwards."

Their love story began in 2011 when Alec spotted Hilaria at a restaurant and gave her his business card with his personal cell phone number jotted down on the back. After a year-long courtship, the actor proposed. Their wedding then took place in June 2012 at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in New York, with celebrity guests including Tina Fey, Woody Allen and his brothers Stephen and Billy Baldwin. Showing her approval, the groom's daughter Ireland was the maid of honor.

Alec told HELLO! at the time: "Marriage was made for you to make a commitment to someone who is worth it, and I met someone who is worth it."

Hilaria summed up the unexpected turn her life had taken by saying: "I didn't expect to fall in love with somebody who was 26 years my senior, but you cannot help who you fall in love with."

She describes Alec as her "soulmate." She added: "I fell in love with him very quickly and very easily. He's very romantic. We can spend all day talking and we never get bored. With us, everything is very simple. Our wedding rings are engraved: 'We're a great team.' In the end, that's what it's all about."
