But this year sustainable brands are bringing a new wave of eco-friendly swimwear collections to inspire us to live longer days under the sunshine. Lili + Mysa is an environmentally-conscious women’s fashion brand that gives back to the environment. This new sustainable swimwear brand goes beyond the production process enabling the wearer to plant the swimsuit instead of the trash. Each swimsuit plant-seed fiber – allowing them to be planted into the earth and grown into different flowers and herbs making it zero-waste and completely eco-friendly. “The items which are plantable may only be spot treated with cold water and air-dried in order to preserve the seeds,” says the founder Nicole Trovato.

Leonisa
The leading brand in Latin America just launched a swimwear brand worth the purchase. Leonisa’s bathing suits are made with recycled fishing nets that were removed from the ocean. “We are excited to be the first company to launch a swimwear product made solely from recycled fishnets that were removed from the ocean floor,” says Octavio Quintana, Vice President of Leonisa USA. Besides offering trendy styles Leonisa also transforms waste into fabric.

This London-based brand follows a concept called ‘swimwear alchemy’ to deliver swimwear made with ECONYL regenerated nylon, transparent supply chain and eco-friendly packaging. Boden’s bathing suits are made from fabric-fishing nets that have been recycled from the ocean.

Vitamin A is made in the USA and is devoted to water conservation efforts. The California-based brand focuses on sustainability at its core with EcoLux material - a premium swim fabric made from recycled nylon fibers. Besides conserving energy and water, Vitamin A’s prints are created using waterless print technology.

Bold Swim is manufactured in Brazil and diversity is their motto. The brand uses biodegradable properties such as Amni Soul Eco - the first biodegradable polyamide fiber in the world.
