Defying fashion rules is something that Kim Kardashian does quite often, and we dare say she’s kind of an expert. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star wore what is sure to be one of the most memorable looks from fall / winter Paris Fashion Week – a mustard-colored latex outfit by Balmain.
However, that wasn’t the first time that the reality star decided to wear the only-for-the-brave material, which has ranked among the top fashion trends of the season. Not surprisingly, Kim has long been a fan of these curve-hugging latex look, rocking them since at least 2014.
Head-to-toe latex
One of the reasons that latex outfits are a must-have for the founder of KKW Beauty is their sensuality. Flexible and semi-elastic, they adapt perfectly to the body, and a prime example is this mock-neck bodysuit and power-shoulder blazer with pleated details.
Sustainable fashion trends
For the launch of her perfume Fleur Fatale in 2014, Kim slipped into this underwire bra-top midi dress –with barely-visible spaghetti straps– and into the attitude that wearing an outfit like this required. As a vegan material, latex that has been gradually gaining popularity in collections from labels that are focused on sustainable clothing
Wild prints
The beauty mogul decided to wear two trends in the same piece, with her latex slim fit dress with long sleeves in an ever-so-trendy snakeskin print. The occasion? A night out in New York.
Sex appeal
With it’s nearly nude mauve hue, this latex look is one of Kim’s sexiest. Slicked back hair and barely-there sandals make it as sensual as it is stylish.
Bodycon
Equally unforgettable was this Thierry Mugler creation that Kim wore to the 2019 Met Gala that, without a doubt, fit the chosen theme: Notes on Camp. We also noted that she was twinning with Cher!
LPD
Despite the belief that latex is synthetic, it actually comes from tree sap, which makes it a great organic material. Showing off her curves, Kim poured herself into this LPD – little pink dress – in 2018.
Opposites attract
Due to its smooth texture and glossy shine, latex makes it possible to create unique combinations with other pieces that add volume and a lot of luxury. A beige-pink furry coat was the only thing Kim needed to turn her mini dress into a complete high-fashion ensemble.
Keeping it simple
Just seeing Kim Kardashian in this all-black look brings to mind some of our fave sci-fi movies – particularly, The Matrix. Maybe she was inspired by the character Trinitywhen she wore these shiny latex high-waisted skinny pants to a Hollywood event in 2018.
Pretty in pink
Kim stepped out with her daughter North in pale rose latex leggings and a wrap jacket to match. While little Nori wasn’t wearing latex, she did give her mom some serious style competition in an orange fur coat and matching sneakers.
