The 25-year-old actor is known for his portrayal of Elio in Call Me By Your Name, entering a successful path in Hollywood, after appearing in Lady Bird, Beautiful Boy and Little Women alongside Meryl Streep and Emma Watson.

Now Timothée is ready for his big debut in the mainstream sci-fi film and reveals that it was director Denis Villeneuve, the main reason why he wanted to participate.

During his latest interview, the Oscar nominee describes the “three majorly appealing factors about Dune,” adding that “One was the opportunity to work” with Villeneuve, especially because he is “a huge fan of Denis’ films.”

He also went on to express his excitement, to take his “first crack at a big-budget film with someone who is as adept at making indie cinema,” praising the director for his professional experience.

Timothee says that playing Paul Atreides in Dune could be considered “a dream role,” as it is a very complex character who is “at a very early stage in life, with a terrible burden.”

The actor will be starring alongside Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson, in the project inspired by Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name, which is said to have inspired the Star Wars franchise and Avatar.

Dune faced an official delay to October 2021, caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has affected the entire movie industry.
