Zara and Mike Tindall pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth with newborn daughter’s name

Nearly ten days after her birth, Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall revealed the name of their newborn daughter. On Wednesday, June 27, a spokeswoman for the equestrian and her husband announced in a statement (via Sky News): "The name is Lena Elizabeth,” adding, “It was just a name they liked." The couple paid tribute to Zara’s maternal grandmother Queen Elizabeth with their baby girl’s moniker. Lena is Her Majesty’s seventh great-grandchild and is 19th in line for the British throne.

Mike, 39, and Princess Anne’s daughter, 37, welcomed their second child together on June 18 at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. At the time, Buckingham Palace noted, "The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.” The pair, who tied the knot in 2011, are already parents to four-year-old daughter Mia. Lena’s birth came over a year after Zara and Mike revealed that they suffered a miscarriage.

Following their loss, the former rugby payer opened up to the Sunday Times, calling his daughter Mia their “saving grace.” He shared, “However down we feel she will come running up in our faces. When I was playing I hardly saw her; now we can see her grow up. I can take her swimming and I can take her to Ninja Tots. You’ll never be able to see her there because she disappears in a puff of smoke.”
