Nicky Blue Eyes! Princess Madeleine's son is all grown up in new third birthday portrait

Prince Nicolas of Sweden is all grown up! Princess Madeleine and Christopher O'Neill’s son celebrated his third birthday on Friday, June 15. To mark the occasion, the Swedish Royal Court released a new portrait of the birthday boy. The blonde haired Prince flashed his bright blue eyes for the close-up shot. Nicolas looked every bit royal wearing a crisp white button shirt in the portrait. Madeleine, 36, took to her personal Instagram account to share the image. Alongside the photo, she wrote, "Our sweet Nicolas turns 3 today!" adding a balloon and cake emoji.

The three-year-old is the Princess Couple’s second child. Madeleine and Chris are also parents to four-year-old Princess Leonore and three-month-old Princess Adrienne. Nicolas recently stepped out with his family in Stockholm for his younger sister’s christening on June 8. The Prince appears to have since gotten his golden locks trimmed for his birthday.

Nicolas and his family reside in London, but spend a great deal of time in the Princess’ native Sweden. A press secretary for Madeleine previously told HOLA! USA that she wants her children to feel “at home” in Sweden. The press officer said, “The Princess feels that her children should have a strong connection with Sweden. She wants them to feel at home here just as she does.”

Back in 2016, Chris opened up about his two older children. "They are two different individuals," the doting dad told the Swedish publication Expressen. "Nicolas is a soft little guy. Leonore is dominant and a determined little girl." In a documentary about the Swedish royal family that same year, the couple admitted that Leonore is “more outgoing” than Prince Nicolas, whom they’ve called a "gentle soul.”
